5 Habits to Help with Mental Health
We all know the routine: getting through the week just to reach the weekend. But how do we move from simply "getting through it" to actually thriving?
Building resilience isn't about massive life changes; it’s about small, intentional habits that help us stay safe, happy, and productive. When we feel well, we are more satisfied, engaged, and crucially, less likely to have accidents at work.
Good mental health helps us build positive relationships and handle changes without fear.
The 5 Ways to Thrive
📚 Keep Learning
Focus on continuous learning and personal development. Set one learning goal for the week, something small enough to complete but meaningful enough to feel like progress. Concentrate on what you can influence.
Be open minded, gather as much information as possible to enable you to make a clear action plan to a successful outcome. Develop a positive attitude to handle changes effectively without fear. Always look for the positive in situations rather than focusing on the negative.
🤝 Connect
Build relationships, inside and outside your team seek support and offer support back to enhance your work experience. Reach out to a work colleague, close friend or relative for a 5-minute chat.
Talk and listen to others and don’t jump to conclusions, let them talk.
🏃 Be Active
Take time to go for a walk, meditate, yoga or listen to relaxing music. Take time outside in the sun to disconnect from the work environment. Take part in a hobby you already enjoy or try something new.
Get outdoors for some exercise or fresh air. Eat well, consider what you are eating, how much water you drink, fuel for clarity.
🔍 Be Curious
We are all naturally curious, it drives us to learn new things and offer new ideas to explore. Curiosity opens new avenues to knowledge and builds skills in the process.
Reflect on your daily achievement rather than what you didn’t achieve. Curiosity can boost our overall wellbeing and quality of our lives.
🎁 Give
Contribute to the wellness of others by volunteering or donating. Thank someone for their efforts, this can lift the mood of both.
Showing an act of kindness can reduce isolation, lead to positive feelings and improve self-esteem.
