Leading up to this summer's tournament, SG World launched a campaign giving away free World Cup wall planners and sweepstake kits to our customers. As a bonus, anyone who requested the kit was automatically entered into a free draw to win £500 in SG World product credit.
The engagement from our customers was fantastic, and this week, our CEO Mark Haase had the pleasure of visiting the winning site in person to hand over the prize.
The winner was Verdant Specialist Solutions, a key chemicals provider in the supply chain that manufactures the essential concentrates used in many well-known household and personal care products.
Mark travelled to their large, highly sensitive site in Elland, West Yorkshire, to meet with Verdant’s Health and Safety Manager, Stewart Morris.
With a major mechanical shutdown on the horizon, Stewart already knows exactly how the £500 credit will be put to use.
"We'll be looking to refresh and update our permits to work, particularly for confined space and Class 1 permits," Stewart explained.
During the visit, Mark and Stewart discussed the wider impact of having the right health and safety processes in place. For Verdant, using SG World products isn't just about ticking compliance boxes; it is about building a genuine, inclusive safety culture.
Stewart noted that they are actively gathering feedback from the shop floor where the permits are used, and that the culture is becoming more accepting and collaborative.
"Once you've got the culture whereby everybody accepts responsibility for their own and everybody else's actions, safety runs itself," Stewart shared.
Mark praised this collaborative approach to health and safety.
"If you build a safety culture, the team owns it," Mark added. "Your role is to help them own it by seeing the positives."
As a brilliant final touch to the campaign, the winning World Cup sweepstake kit wasn't just enjoyed by Verdant's staff. Stewart, who serves as the chairman of his local RAF Association, used the kit to run a sweepstake at a charity event. He successfully filled the board in 20 minutes, raising money for their charity fund in the process!
A huge congratulations to Stewart and the entire team at Verdant from all of us here at SG World.
