International Women's Day - how's the H&S Sector performing?
In the 2017 Health & Safety at Work survey, 22% of the sample were women, marking a slight decrease on the 23.6% recorded in the 2016 survey. But as well as being poorly represented, there is also evidence of a gender pay gap: women earned on average £37,923 and men £46,409. The gap wasn’t a reflection of the fact that women are more likely to work part-time: when the figures were calculated for full-time employees alone, the averages were very similar, at £38,100 compared to £46,400.
