A massive high-five to Mark Haase, SG World CEO, who completed the Duchenne Dash on 9-10th June 2017!
Mark already has a huge list of gruelling races and marathons up his sleeve, fundraising in the name of various charities, including at the New York Marathon, the Great Manchester Marathon and he infamously led Team SG World to victory at Tough Mudder 2016!
The Duchenne Dash is Mark’s latest race in aid of Duchenne UK, a charity which supports Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy sufferers’ and their families. DMD is a sometimes fatal genetic disease, which is diagnosed in childhood, almost always affecting boys. The condition causes progressive deterioration of muscle strength and function and, whilst treatment and therapy is steadily improving, DMD continues to be an extremely physically and emotionally challenging condition for sufferers.
Mark took part in the Duchenne Dash over 9-10th June, which saw him complete a 24 hour bike ride from London, and ending up under the Eiffel Tower in Paris! The Duchenne Dash has had some high-profile supporters over previous years including Bradley Wiggins and the Channel 4 News Team. Krishnan Guru-Murthy, who waved the team off at last year’s race, said at the time: ‘the Dash has gone beyond my wildest dreams; it started out as a little idea to raise some money for a great cause, and it’s turned into an event which sees an amazing bunch of people do a huge endeavour and have a brilliant time, all whilst raising money for an incredible cause’. We bet that Mark was glad to put his feet up after that one!
