Steve Floodgate, SG World Communications Director is a regular contributor on RedShift Radio. Based in Crewe, RedShift Radio is an online radio station with listeners across Cheshire and beyond, with a strong focus on local schools. Red Shift brings local businesses and schools together discussing a wide range of topics from training to start ups.

SG World first started working with Red Shift by participating on the weekly Charity Show, discussing the SG World National School Poetry Competition in support of Whizz-Kidz. Red Shift joined SG World at the Poetry Finals Event in June, interviewing the winning poets and special guest judges – Mark and Sam and broadcasting live readings from the day over the airwaves.

Commenting on the experience, Steve said, “Working with Red Shift has allowed SG World to network with teachers and better understand the safeguarding requirements of schools, for example we are discussing a project with Ben Wye in the Early Intervention Schools Partnership about potential solutions for managing and monitoring school attendance. We are delighted to have participated on a number of shows but my personal favourite was probably the School Run programme actually hosted by the kids themselves. It was a real pleasure working with the young DJ’s - you never knew what turn the conversation would take.”
