Why Better Rail Links Matter for Crewe (and SG World)
Mark Haase, CEO at SG World, recently featured in a Bloomberg piece looking at Andy Burnham's push to revive high-speed rail connections across the North.
The discussion covers the ongoing challenge of drawing talent to Crewe. Mark said, "We are incredibly proud of the team we have here at SG World. Our people are the engine of what we do, and the talent in this building is second to none.
"However, transport infrastructure changes the geography of recruitment. Right now, Crewe is not automatically seen as a major commercial hub in the way Manchester or Birmingham might be. Better rail links solve that by blowing the catchment area wide open, making it far simpler for top talent to reach us."
Mark added, "We have taken things into our own hands by building our own talent pipelines locally, including apprenticeship schemes in sales, finance and IT with great success."
Infrastructure upgrades are ultimately about the next generation. Better connections make the region more accessible, more dynamic, and better equipped for long-term growth. It is a conversation worth having, and we are glad to be part of it.
